My personal experience with social media for a PLN has varied greatly over the years. When I was younger, like middle and high school age, it was primarily used to help me with school subjects I didn't quite understand. As I got older and more college focused, social media took the role of guide to getting into the best school possible. Now that I'm in college, I use social media as a tool to build knowledge within my future career. It has given me so many tips to becoming a great teacher and ideas for future lessons. I've interacted with so many creators but mostly in the sense of watching, liking, and saving the videos, not so much interacting with them personally.
While growing up, I was raised in a very digitally diverse world, where most people knew a bit about technology. There were definitely some outliers that weren't as adept to the digital world but I'd say they were in a very small minority. Due to the highly digital world I was raised in, I learned so many different tools to use while applying for and learning at college. I felt very in my element while using college board to apply for college and taking online notes while in class. I don't feel like there is much I could do better because I have felt very prepared in my lifetime.
In my future class, I will definitely be using tools like Padlet and Miroboard to help with collaboration between students. I've loved using Miroboard in my class because of the easy to understand user interface and the ability to interact with my classmates. Padlet had been very helpful when organizing my own work but also when trying to allow for a class to provide their submissions into one page. A good lesson to use Padlet on could be asking that a class of high schoolers in a history class, create a timeline where each addition is a different significant date.
